History
Jinnah Islamia College of commerce (JICC) is the 1st commerce college established in the private sector in 1979. JICC was affiliated with University of the Punjab in 1981. Through initially the college used to cater commerce education only, however later on it diversified its educational services to science and humanities.
Education in Pakistan was completely nationalized in 1972. As a result of this strategic shift the role of the private sector in imparting education to the society was discouraged and eliminated. Eventually the expansion of education among the masses was drastically reduced. The whole national educational set-up was plunged into deep crisis. The Government then visualized the gravity of the situation and invited the private sector to rejoin the process of expanding education among the country folk.
Under such bleak circumstances a bold response was offered to meet the expectation of the society through the establishment of Jinnah Islamia College of Commerce (JICC) Lahore. JICC is the first ever Commerce College established in the private sector in Punjab. Education department of the Government of the Punjab granted recognition to this college in 1981. Founded on the philosophy that, "the strong should have something to struggle for and the weak may not be suffered", JICC places great emphasis on success in the Board of Intermediate and the University examinations. The students study in an ideal environment where top standard of commitment and excellence is maintained.
